Women United to Promote Justice, Peace, and the Common Good

The 1st Annual Women United to Promote Justice, Peace, and the Common Good was held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet Motherhouse. Panelists included Dr. Karla Scott, Sister Donna Gunn, and Ms. Karina Arango; and was moderated by Dr. Christie A. Cruise.


Panelists shared with participants the work they are currently doing to dismantle systems of oppression and promote social justice in the community. 


Each panelist discussed solutions as it related to oppression. Dr. Scott addressed individual oppression and the role of intergroup dialogue in interrupting oppression. Sister Donna discussed institutional oppression and state and local initiatives needed to eliminate poverty. Ms. Arango discussed social/cultural oppression and Latino experiences with the justice system.
